Introducing the new Heritage Food & Drink Trail, a brilliant way to explore Newmarket. Join a guided walk for just £20 per person as we explore some of  the wonderful  history and tastes of the town. Learn about the famous Newmarket sausage, how the town got its own gin and all about the historic Newmarket cake – including of course, tastings!

Discover Newmarket is delighted to be working with three local companies to bring you a brand new Heritage Food and Drink Trail!

This delightful guided walking tour will showcase some of the important elements of the links to royalty and the town’s storied history. This tour will give you the opportunity to visit three beloved Newmarket institutions to experience the food and drink that have formed part of Newmarket’s heritage. Learn all about the famed Newmarket sausage and why there is nowhere else in the world that can lay claim to being producers of this popular staple with a visit to the historic Powter’s butchers.

Next up you’ll pop into Corney & Barrow, a wine merchants near the top of the High Street with their distinctive red shopfront. The company dates back to 1780 and the team here will give you insight into the world of wine. You may also learn a bit more about the famed Newmarket Gin!

The final stop on the Heritage Food and Drink Trail will take you to Nancy’s Vintage Teashop, a delightful tearoom on Old Station Road where you will enjoy a taste of Newmarket cake. As part of your tour you will also receive a £5 voucher towards lunch at Nancy’s Vintage Teashop.

10.30am – Meet your Tour Guide and start exploring Newmarket’s town centre and learning about the Royal links and other interesting happenings in history.

11am – Pop in at Powter’s for a taste of the famed Newmarket Sausage and learn about the history of this humble delicacy and why it is so important to Newmarket

11.30am – Next, you’ll step inside Corney & Barrow, the wine merchants for a taste and a wine masterclass. Ask them about the famous Newmarket Gin too!

12.30pm – The final stop is a visit to the quaint surroundings of Nancy’s Vintage Teashop for a taste of Newmarket cake before the end of your tour. You can choose to stay at Nancy’s and use your £5 towards lunch.
